Job Summary
This job opportunity is for an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST position description Dwithin the SMMO of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32 Excepted Service position.
The purpose of this position is to provide instruction and assistance to state unit personnel regarding Army National Guard (ARNG) equipment and maintenance management.
As an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST GSyou will:
- Serve as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment.
- Provide instruction and assistance regarding equipment maintenance procedures techniques and methods as a part of the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT).
- Provide advice assistance and guidance regarding maintenance management systems material readiness programs cost reduction programs and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities.
- Evaluate directives to ensure adherence to standard methods conformity in maintenance procedures and the proper use of maintenance equipment facilities and personnel.

Additional Employment Requirements:
-Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
-Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
-Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance conduct agency needs public interest and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.

Military Grade:
Min: E-4/SrA/SPC and Max:WARRANT OFFICER 1/ WO1

Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.
*Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)
General Experience:
- Knowledge of standard shop terminology
- Mechanical principles relating to equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications
- Repairing overhauling maintaining constructing or inspecting equipment
- Using computer and automation systems
- Applying principles concepts and methods of equipment design
- Using tools and test equipment
- Developing installing inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques
