Who are we looking for

As an Environmental Remediation Consultant Emergency Responsewith GHD FIRST you will be a core member of our emergency response team and will respond to environmental incidents throughout the United States. You will lead projects from initial emergency response and site stabilization through environmental investigation remediation restoration regulatory coordination and closure.

This is an environmental consulting leadership role for an experienced remediation professional who can operate effectively during an incident advise private-sector clients manage complex technical projects and lead multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams. The successful candidate must be available for after-hours response and travel and will also manage remediation preparedness and environmental projects between active responses.

This is not a general emergency-management disaster-recovery weather-response or construction-contractor position. We are seeking an experienced environmental engineering or remediation consultant who can apply that technical background during environmental emergency responses.

Our team supports some of the continents largest railroad pipeline energy manufacturing and industrial clients helping them prepare for incidents respond when they occur and successfully navigate investigation remediation restoration regulatory and operational challenges.

Backed by more than 100 offices and over 200 emergency-response-trained professionals across North America GHD FIRST combines rapid response capabilities with the technical depth of a leading environmental and engineering consulting firm.

Responsibilities of the position will be but are not limited to:

  • Manage environmental emergency response investigation remediation restoration and compliance projects from proposal through completion. This role combines hands-on field work responding to emergencies with office-based project management/support.
  • Serve as the primary client contact and lead all aspects of project delivery including scope schedule budget forecasting invoicing reporting quality and communication.
  • Develop technical strategies scopes cost estimates remedial approaches work plans and regulatory solutions that support client objectives.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate technical specialists field personnel subcontractors and contractors.
  • Support environmental investigations corrective actions remediation programs site closure strategies and regulatory engagement efforts.
  • Prepare proposals technical reports regulatory deliverables and other client-facing documents while supporting business development and account growth.
  • Mentor staff support emergency response readiness and represent GHD through client interactions industry events and after-hours incident response activities as needed.

What you will bring to the team:

  • 5 years of experience with an environmental engineering or remediation consulting firm.
  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering Geology Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing environmental investigation remediation and compliance projects under state and federal regulatory programs.
  • Experience supporting private-sector industrial clients including rail pipeline manufacturing chemical energy or similar industries.
  • Experience managing project financial performance including budgets forecasting contracting change management invoicing and subcontractor management.
  • Experience leading environmental field programs including investigations sampling monitoring remediation implementation and contractor oversight.
  • Experience responding to environmental emergencies and supporting preparedness drills exercises and field response operations.
  • Strong project management client relationship management business development and communication skills including preparation of technical reports and client presentations.
  • Working knowledge of ICS air monitoring environmental sampling SCAT and emergency response operations.
  • Experience supporting railroad and pipeline incidents is preferred.
  • Strong leadership organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and multidisciplinary teams.

Salary Range: $94894.00 - $158156.00 may vary based on experience and location.
