$39.97 - $59.12 Hourly


Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is a non-represented position and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Health Department
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION OF WORK: 825 L Street Anchorage Alaska



Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties

This position is responsible for the overall management of the Environmental Health Services section including program planning directing managing and organizing. Plans tracks oversees and is accountable for the Environmental Health Services section budget. Leads and provides direction in grant application and administration for multiple program grants. This position provides direct supervision of Environmental Health Services staff members. Supervision includes scheduling assigning duties mentoring and developing staff and evaluating performance. It also includes review and revision of applicable municipal codes and enforcement specifically of Anchorage Municipal Codes chapters 15 and 16. This position works closely with the public governmental and private sector agencies in addressing public environmental health needs and providing technical support. This is a multi-faceted job with demands for the incumbents time coming from multiple directions requiring a balancing of priorities. Perform other related duties as assigned.
