Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer to support a high-performance regulated defense environment. This role is responsible for developing implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with OSHA standards federal regulations and internal safety policies.

The EHS Officer will play a critical role in promoting a culture of safety risk mitigation and regulatory compliance across operational and facility environments.

Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Management
  • Develop implement and maintain EHS programs in compliance with OSHA and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Conduct safety inspections audits and risk assessments across facilities and operations.
  • Ensure adherence to federal state and organizational safety requirements.
  • Investigate incidents near misses and safety violations; implement corrective actions.
Training & Communication
  • Deliver safety training programs to employees across multiple functions.
  • Communicate safety policies procedures and regulatory updates clearly and effectively.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through ongoing engagement and education.
Risk Management & Operational Support
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support handling storage and shipping compliance for regulated materials.
  • Ensure safe work practices in environments involving physical activity including climbing lifting and inspections.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections incidents and compliance activities.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal leadership and regulatory bodies.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite for reporting tracking and communication.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with operations facilities and leadership teams to ensure safety integration across all activities.
  • Manage multiple concurrent safety projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship (mandatory requirement)
  • High School Diploma/GED with 20 years of experience OR:
    • Associates degree with 14 years of experience OR
    • Bachelors degree with 12 years of experience OR
    • Masters degree with 10 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and EHS regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to 40 lbs and climbing ladders for inspections
Certification Requirement (Must Have One)

Candidates must hold at least one of the following (or equivalent):

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST)
  • Or an equivalent recognized EHS certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in environmental health and safety facilities or industrial safety roles
  • Strong problem-solving and risk assessment skills
  • Experience in government defense or highly regulated environments
  • Strong leadership and training delivery capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced operational settings
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $78208 $150000 annually
