Dudek is seeking a self-motivated enthusiastic individual for an Environmental Compliance Specialist. The selected individual will support environmental compliance efforts regulatory research field monitoring data collection reporting and ensure project adherence to environmental laws and regulations. Additionally the Environmental Compliance Specialist I will assist with inspecting construction project(s) for compliance with Storm water regulations particularly the California Construction General Permit as a Storm Water Inspector. A Storm Water Inspector is responsible for ensuring site compliance with the California NPDES Construction General Permit the projects Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and any other applicable requirements (e.g. Dewatering Permits etc.).
The Environmental Compliance Specialist will gain hands-on experience in environmental compliance processes while working under the guidance of senior Environmental Compliance professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance and Permitting
- Assists in researching and interpreting environmental regulations and policies to support project compliance.
- Helps prepare and submit permit applications compliance reports and environmental documentation.
- Supports project teams in ensuring compliance with federal state and local environmental laws (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act NEPA California Environmental Quality Act CEQA Clean Water Act CWA and Clean Air Act CAA).
Field Monitoring and Data Collection
- Conducts site visits and field assessments to monitor environmental conditions and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Collects and analyzes environmental data/samples related to air water and soil quality.
- Assists in implementing best management practices (BMPs) for erosion control stormwater management and other environmental protections.
- Conduct routine storm event and post-storm inspections to verify site compliance with SWPPP maps and permit conditions.
- Trouble-shoot site compliance and BMP issues.
Reporting and Documentation
- Assists in preparing technical reports impact assessments and compliance audits.
- Maintains organizes and prepares environmental records monitoring/inspection logs and field notes.
- Supports teams with environmental impact mitigation planning and tracking.
Project Coordination and Communication
- Supports coordination efforts with regulatory agencies project managers and field teams to ensure smooth compliance workflows.
- Participates in team meetings and project discussions to provide regulatory insight.
- Assists in responding to compliance-related inquiries and project needs.
- Communicate site/BMP issues and inspection results with construction and client personnel
Professional Development and Industry Engagement
- Stays up to date on environmental policies industry trends and best practices.
- Participates in training programs workshops and professional organizations.
- Seeks mentorship and learning opportunities to advance technical knowledge and compliance expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 years experience in environmental compliance stormwater inspections regulatory assessments or permitting.
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Natural Resource Management or a related life sciences field.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Capable of field work and walking on difficult terrain.
- Must possess a valid drivers license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
- Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS) or environmental modeling tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with Best Management Practice (BMP) and NPDES regulation knowledge.
- Familiarity with construction job sites and plans.
- Access to a 4WD vehicle for use during inspections (preferred not required). If a 4WD vehicle is required for a specific site inspection one can be provided.
Compensation: $25.00-$38.00 hourly*
*Finalagreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individuals related experience education certifications skills and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.
Working Conditions
- This joboperatesin a remote or office-basedenvironmentand this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones printers etc.
- Thisjob requires occasional project site visits based outdoors which can include excessive noise uneven walking surfaces extreme weather and moving vehicles and equipment.
