- Evaluates sample data using Greenbook specifications project specifications and test data.
- Excavates soil samples using hand tools.
- Conducts laboratory and field tests on construction materials.
- Performs density and compaction tests.
- Performs concrete cylinder strength tests.
- Performs complex physical tests on undisturbed samples.
- Inspects galvanizing coatings and reinforcing steel.
- Monitors construction materials.
- Interprets testing and inspection requirements.
- Records test data and inspection results.
- Provides technical guidance to lower-level testing staff.
- Coordinates testing and inspections activities.
- Ensures compliance with applicable laws regulations specifications and testing standards.
RequirementsREQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Two years experience at the level of Engineering Testing Aid III*.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:Physical Class 4 - Arduous: This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds often combined with bending twisting or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:*Experience at the level of an Engineering Testing Aid III in the service of County of Los Angeles is defined as: Performs physical laboratory and field tests of engineering construction materials.For a fuller description of work performed refer to County of Los Angeles Class Specifications forEngineering Testing Aid III.

MULTIPLE-CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of 12 months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in Public Works as they occur.
