Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the implementation validation troubleshooting and continuous improvement of electrical digital and integrated systems across White River Marine Group product platforms. This role helps ensure systems are effectively incorporated into production and perform reliably in customer dealer and field environments. The position works cross-functionally with Product Engineering Manufacturing Quality Warranty and Service teams to resolve technical issues support product launches and improve overall product performance. The Engineer Technician serves as a key technical resource bridging manufacturing service and engineering through hands-on diagnostics root cause analysis technical support testing and field feedback to enhance product quality reliability and the customer ownership experience.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the implementation and serviceability of electrical and digital systems (e.g. CAN-based networks helm electronics power distribution lighting systems control modules and related marine technologies) on new and existing boat platforms.
  • Collaborates with Product Engineering Manufacturing Quality and Service teams to ensure systems meet performance quality and serviceability requirements.
  • Reviews wiring schematics electrical diagrams harness routing and system layouts to support troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Participates in product validation testing prototype evaluations and production launch activities.
  • Provides hands-on support to manufacturing teams to diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic system issues on the production floor.
  • Develops and maintains work instructions troubleshooting guides inspection procedures test procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Assists in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to production defects warranty claims and field concerns.
  • Supports dealer and field service teams in diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and electronic issues.
  • Investigates recurring field failures and warranty trends to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assists in developing technical bulletins service documentation and training materials for internal teams and dealer networks.
  • Documents technical findings and provides recommendations to improve product quality reliability and serviceability.
  • Provides on-site support as needed for product validation issue resolution dealer support customer concerns or field performance evaluations.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.


EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education Required:High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education:Associate Degree Technical Certificate Vocational Training or Military Technical Training in Electrical Technology Marine Technology Automotive Technology Electronics Technology Industrial Maintenance Mechatronics or a related technical field.

  • Years of Experience:37 years of experience troubleshooting servicing diagnosing installing or supporting electrical and electronic systems in marine automotive RV powersports industrial agricultural or similar technical environments.
  • Experience working with low-voltage DC electrical systems digital switching systems and communication networks such as CAN J1939 or NMEA 2000 preferred.
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic system issues in manufacturing dealer service field service or customer support environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting warranty investigations product quality improvements or field issue resolution preferred.
  • ABYC certification manufacturer certifications or equivalent technical credentials preferred.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Strong understanding of marine automotive RV or similar low-voltage electrical systems (12V/24V DC).
  • Knowledge of CAN bus NMEA 2000 J1939 digital switching systems or similar communication protocols preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics electrical diagrams harness layouts and technical documentation.
  • Experience with helm electronics power distribution systems digital switching technologies and electronic control modules.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment including multimeters clamp meters scan tools and related electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to engineering manufacturing service dealer and supplier personnel.
  • Strong organizational documentation and technical reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing and service environment.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with a focus on product quality reliability and issue resolution.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Up to 10%. Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities dealer locations test sites supplier locations or field locations as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly sits and works on a computer.
  • Frequently stands and walks in manufacturing service and marine environments.
  • Frequently works in and around marine vessels electrical systems and testing environments.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs.


INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Works under general supervision while exercising independent judgment in troubleshooting diagnostics root cause analysis and issue resolution. Responsible for identifying and resolving moderately complex technical issues within established procedures while providing recommendations that improve product quality reliability serviceability and customer satisfaction.
