Job Summary
You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Civil) with Bureau of Safety and Environmental this position you will assist the Chief of the Office of Structural and Technical Support and the engineering staff in regulating the Gulf of America Region (GOAR) offshore platforms and to ensure the efficient and timely gathering processing and review of industry supplied data.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
1. Monitoring and/or uploading all applications requests reports and notifications associated with GOMR off shore platforms for the Technical Information Management System (TIMS) National Consolidated Information System (NCIS) and TIMSWeb databases.2. Identifying reported damage insufficient cathodic protection levels and/or anything else as instructed by OSTS staff that needs to be flagged for a required action.
3. Conducting reviews of all operator submitted OSTS permits and reports for completeness of all regulatory requirements (all attachments costs recovery fees etc.) and other policies.
4. Answering questions and providing guidance on regulatory and procedural issues involving acceptable completion and submittal of required reporting structural permitting and/or any other OSTS queries.
5. Responsible for issuing tracking and closing out Incidence of Non-compliance (INCs) notifications through the NCIS and TIMSWeb systems.
Salary Range Information (Per Annum): $61722 (Step 1) - $80243 (Step 10)
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following:detailed database queries managing applications and reports within technical information management systemsand/or focusing on accuracy and compliance with established standards AND
engineering teams by reviewing technical documents including engineering reports and/or inspection surveys AND
submittals and reports to identify issues with regulatory requirements and policies and/or verify completeness of all necessary documents and fees AND
to inquiries related to regulatory and procedural issues and/or providing guidance on report submissions and permitting processes.OR
Education: Successful completion of at least two full years (36 semester hours) of graduate level education leading to a masters or a completed masters degree in an appropriate field of study such as engineering engineering or industrial technology construction physics drafting surveying physical science or mathematics.
OR
Combination: An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as described above when combined equal 100% of the total requirement.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
EducationYou must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name school name grades credit hours earned major(s) grade point average or class ranking and date the degree was conferred if applicable. A typed list of courses grades semester/quarter hours GPA etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not qualified for the position.
