Job Summary

Job Title: Engineering Intern
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Special Training Required:
Excel in SolidWorks particularly features learned and implemented including: extrude revolve swept lofted fillet linear pattern rib shell mirror reference geometry and sketching.
Experience Required:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program at an accredited college focusing on engineering principles and practices related to production manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
One to three years previous CAD/drafting experience. Good knowledge of: basic drafting principles and techniques used in the trades. Some knowledge of: record keeping; mathematical algebraic geometric and trigonometric computations to draw angles determine scale detail of drawings quantities of materials cost distance and other data related to drawing; interpreting standard engineering plans and specifications.
Purpose of Position:
Using computers and computer systems to program write software and set up functions to enter data or process information for drafting layout and specifying technical devices parts and equipment. Provide documentation detailed instructions drawings or specifications to tell others about how devices parts equipment or structures are to be fabricated constructed assembled modified maintained or used.
Description of Job Duties:
Drafts and details sets of plans and features design drawings from department staff notes and supervisors guidance.
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment dies/tools and controls using computer-
assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
Basics of GD&T and the current standard for creating engineering drawings.
Created 3D models from the part history and placed tolerances/relationships between the different parts.
Coordinate with and consult other workers to design lay out or detail component and systems and to resolve design or
other problems.
Review and analyze specifications sketches drawings ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs
and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
Solicit feedback of perceived actual needs and ideas for developing new products/programs.
Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using
computer-assisted equipment.
Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
Lay out and draw schematic orthographic or angle views to depic functional relationships of components assemblies
systems and machines.
