Job Summary
This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering problems preparing students for careers in advanced manufacturing mechanical design and engineering analysis while strengthening transfer readiness to four-year institutions.
Conduct applied engineering research under faculty supervision
Develop and analyze computational models and simulations using engineering software (e.g. ANSYS)
Apply engineering fundamentals to open-ended real-world problems
Assist in AI/ML integration for engineering design and analysis workflows
Interpret and validate simulation results using engineering judgment
Participate in weekly progress meetings and technical reviews
Document research findings in a technical report and conference-style paper
Deliver a formal end-of-program presentation to faculty and industry partners
Enrolled in an Engineering or Green2Gold program at Ivy Tech
Minimum GPA of 3.5 required
Completion of MATH211 MATH212 and PHYS220 required before the start of the internship
Strong interest in engineering analysis modeling or research
Ability to commit to the full 8-week internship
