Job Summary

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Engineer Tool 2 in El Segundo California for a four-month contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite position supports the design development fabrication and inspection of industrial tooling and support equipment used for assembly composite production and experimental applications. The engineer will collaborate with manufacturing operations vendors and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure tooling meets quality cost schedule and safety requirements.

Required Skills

  • Bachelors degree in a Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • Experience with industry-standard design tools including NX CAD and CATIA
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes and machine shop practices
  • Experience with drawing release criteria and related documentation
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018)
  • Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols
  • Ability to evaluate drawings for completeness clarity dimensional accuracy materials processes standards specifications and fabrication practicality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills for managing time projects and resources
  • Technical attention to detail
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance and special program access

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Experience designing and fabricating special tooling and support equipment
  • Experience with tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts
  • Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part production
  • Experience establishing tooling statements of work and design estimates
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience with stress analysis using hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Current active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 5 years

What Youll Do

  • Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs
  • Design tooling and equipment including engineering drawings inspection requirements and verification plans
  • Review designs for manufacturability fit form and function
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Create layouts preliminary designs sketches and supporting documentation
  • Interface with internal customers and design review teams
  • Coordinate with manufacturing operations and process engineering
  • Manage tooling projects including cost schedule procurement and fabrication
  • Review completed layouts and drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards and specifications
  • Identify design errors omissions and deficiencies and recommend improvements
  • Support vendors during fabrication and inspect completed tooling
  • Support continuous improvement root cause analysis non-conformance and process failure investigations
