The Engineer supports the daily operation maintenance and reliability of Sony PlayStation facilities in San Diego and Orange County within a fast-paced environment in the video game industry. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance troubleshooting repairs and inspections of building mechanical electrical plumbing HVAC and life-safety systems to ensure facilities operate safely efficiently and at a high standard.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineer supports the daily operation maintenance and reliability of Sony PlayStation facilities in San Diego and Orange County. Working as part of the facilities and engineering team this role is responsible for maintaining troubleshooting and repairing building systems and equipment to provide safe reliable comfortable and well-maintained facilities.

The Engineer performs preventive and corrective maintenance across HVAC mechanical electrical plumbing and general building systems while responding to work orders facility issues and emergency conditions. This position works closely with Cushman & Wakefield facilities leadership other engineering personnel vendors property management and Sony PlayStation stakeholders to support day-to-day business operations and minimize facility disruptions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform maintenance troubleshooting and repairs associated with plumbing electrical HVAC mechanical and general building systems across assigned Sony PlayStation facilities.

Operate and maintain HVAC equipment and systems including chillers (air and/or water cooled) DX units pumps cooling towers fan coil units VAV systems air distribution systems and associated equipment as applicable to assigned facilities.

Monitor and adjust mechanical and control systems including gauges control panels valves thermostats diffusers pumps motors and other equipment necessary to maintain comfortable and reliable building conditions.

Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) Energy Management Systems (EMS) alarms equipment status and building conditions and respond appropriately to identified issues.

Verify field conditions troubleshoot equipment and system issues identify root causes when possible and perform necessary repairs or adjustments within the Engineers capabilities and responsibilities.

Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with Cushman & Wakefield standards site procedures manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices.

Perform preventive maintenance activities including filter changes coil cleaning equipment inspections lubrication belt inspection and replacement bearing inspection and replacement alignment cleaning adjustments and other scheduled maintenance activities as applicable.

Inspect mechanical rooms electrical rooms equipment rooms fan rooms pumps motors generators fire pumps sump pumps ejector pumps cooling equipment and other building infrastructure as applicable.

Identify abnormal equipment conditions leaks noises temperatures pressures vibrations alarms or other indicators of potential equipment failure and promptly investigate or escalate findings.

Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within applicable licensing requirements and established safety procedures.

Perform plumbing repairs including water closets urinals flush valve assemblies faucets lavatories drains and other plumbing fixtures and systems as appropriate.

Perform general building repairs and maintenance including doors ceilings walls flooring handrails signage lighting fixtures hardware and other facility components.

Inspect facility spaces and equipment areas to ensure they are maintained in a safe clean organized condition and are free of inappropriate storage obstructions and debris.

Inspect emergency exit signs emergency lighting egress pathways stairs and exits and ensure access remains clear and unobstructed.

Support fire and life-safety inspections and testing in accordance with applicable NFPA requirements local jurisdictional requirements Cushman & Wakefield standards site procedures and direction from facilities leadership.

Complete assigned preventive maintenance and corrective work orders accurately and within established service expectations.

Document work performed equipment conditions readings deficiencies repairs parts used and follow-up requirements within the applicable CMMS/work-order management system.

Communicate equipment deficiencies recurring failures safety concerns operational risks and recommended repairs or replacements to facilities leadership.

Maintain accurate equipment information and assist with verification of asset inventories equipment locations nameplate information maintenance requirements and asset condition.

Participate in regular facility inspections and site walks and proactively identify maintenance deficiencies or conditions requiring corrective action.

Respond promptly and professionally to facility service requests and customer concerns and communicate status and resolution as appropriate.

Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors performing maintenance inspections repairs or projects and provide site access equipment information and technical support as required.

Monitor vendor work when assigned and communicate concerns regarding safety workmanship scope or equipment conditions to facilities leadership.

Support planned equipment shutdowns electrical shutdowns maintenance activities projects and other work that may impact facility operations.

Respond immediately to emergency situations including equipment failures leaks electrical issues HVAC failures fire/life-safety events evacuations and other facility incidents as directed.

Participate in after-hours and emergency response activities when required to protect building systems and minimize disruption to Sony PlayStation business operations.

Assist with facility projects equipment installations renovations moves and other operational initiatives as directed.

Read and interpret equipment manuals drawings schematics construction documents specifications and other technical documentation necessary to operate and maintain building systems.

Maintain tools equipment mechanical spaces engineering areas and assigned workspaces in a safe clean and organized condition.

Follow established lockout/tagout (LOTO) electrical safety ladder safety fall protection PPE and other applicable safe-work practices.

Comply with applicable codes regulations governmental requirements Cushman & Wakefield policies Sony PlayStation requirements and established site procedures related to building operations and maintenance.

Complete all required Cushman & Wakefield safety and technical training within established timelines.

Maintain a professional appearance and interact respectfully and professionally with Sony PlayStation employees facilities personnel vendors property management and other building occupants.

Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability preventive maintenance energy efficiency building performance and overall facility operations and communicate recommendations to facilities leadership.

Perform other engineering maintenance and facility responsibilities as required to support assigned Sony PlayStation locations and business operations.

IMPORTANT EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Graduate of an apprenticeship program technical school trade school or equivalent technical training preferred.

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years of related experience operating maintaining troubleshooting and repairing mechanical electrical plumbing HVAC and general building systems in a commercial corporate industrial campus or similar environment.

Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial HVAC and mechanical equipment.

Experience with HVAC equipment such as air-handling systems VAVs fan coil units pumps motors DX equipment chillers cooling towers and associated controls preferred.

Experience troubleshooting plumbing electrical mechanical and general building maintenance issues.

Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and/or Energy Management Systems (EMS) preferred.

Experience utilizing CMMS/work-order management systems to receive document update and complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities preferred.

Experience supporting critical building systems and responding to equipment failures or facility emergencies preferred.

Experience working with outside contractors service providers and specialized technical vendors preferred.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot facility issues identify appropriate corrective actions complete repairs within individual capabilities and appropriately escalate more complex issues.

Experience working in an occupied corporate or campus environment and providing professional customer service to employees and stakeholders preferred.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Appropriate trade license certification or permit as required by applicable state or local regulations.

Journeyman electrical HVAC refrigeration boiler or other applicable trade licenses or certifications are preferred where relevant to assigned responsibilities.

EPA Section 608 Universal Technician certification may be required based on responsibilities and applicable regulations.

Possess and maintain a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record where driving is required for the position.

Working computer skills including Microsoft Outlook Excel Word Teams and applicable facility management systems.

Experience operating maintaining and performing basic repairs on HVAC equipment pumps motors refrigerant systems compressors plumbing systems electrical equipment and other commercial building infrastructure.

Working knowledge of Building Management Systems Energy Management Systems control systems and building automation.

Strong working knowledge of commercial building systems operation maintenance troubleshooting and repair.

Ability to read and understand equipment manuals construction documents specifications drawings blueprints and electrical/mechanical schematics.

Ability to safely use hand tools power tools ladders meters testing equipment and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.

Ability to work independently and as part of a facilities and engineering team.

Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly document work performed equipment conditions deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.

Strong customer-service orientation and ability to work professionally within an occupied Sony PlayStation workplace.

May be required to work independently or as the primary engineering resource onsite during certain periods.

May be required to work extended hours when responding to priority or emergency situations.

May require scheduled after-hours work overtime shift work weekend work and/or participation in an on-call rotation based on operational requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a professional corporate office and campus environment and regularly works within mechanical rooms electrical rooms equipment spaces rooftops utility areas and other building infrastructure environments.

The role requires regular movement throughout Sony PlayStation facilities and may require travel between assigned locations in San Diego and Orange County. Work may occur indoors and outdoors and may involve varying temperatures noise levels weather conditions mechanical equipment electrical equipment and other conditions typical of commercial building operations.

Appropriate personal protective equipment and safe-work practices are required based on the work being performed.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must have ability to stoop stand climb frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps tools ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices
Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
Involves movement between departments floors and properties to facilitate work
Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $38.25 - $45.00
