Job Summary
PURPOSE: To establish an Employment Register to fill Six (6) current vacancies in the Ambulance Department and future vacancies as they occur.
SUMMARY OF JOB: Under general supervision performs rescue and emergency medical care functions. Work involves standing ready to respond twenty-four hours a day to emergency calls within a short period of time which includes but is not limited to responding to emergency assignment; performing duties as outlined by Emergency Medical Technician Basic certification; driving and maneuvering emergency vehicles; remaining vigilant in regards to scene assessment and safety; requesting routing and coordinating resources; managing emergency scenes and communication; performing inventory stocking and cleaning of equipment/unit; performing documentation; staffing the emergency center; etc. Reports to the EMS Manager and performs all tasks assigned.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by successful completion of National and/or State of Louisiana Registry of Emergency Medical Technician Certification as an EMT; current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification established by the American Heart Association and Basic Life possess and provide certifications and a valid Class D drivers license with have a clean driving records and pass a criminal background check. Must be honest and exhibit good moral/ethical physical condition including back vision and a copy of your valid Drivers License and certifications with application
KIND OF EXAMINATION (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)This examination may consist of a written test a rating of training and experience an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
