Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma HiSET or G.E.D

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Bilingual or Multilingual preferred.

  3. Knowledge of second language acquisition and instruction.
  4. Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population.
  5. Effective written and oral communication.

  8. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  9. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.

JOB SUMMARY:

The English Language Learner (ELL) associate supports language acquisition of ELL students by assisting with the preparation of instructional materials and assisting students academically. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist ELL students in the development of English language development by interpreting directions observing individual and group activities facilitated by the teacher and assisting with instruction in the community setting.
  2. Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment with teacher guidance.
  3. Provide instructional support to students by reinforcing teacher-directed learning through reading activities guided practice and individualized assistance.
  4. Use positive reinforcement techniques and strategies to assist in managing behavior throughout the school routine including transition times lunch and recess.
  5. Supervise students during transitions lunch and recess.
  6. Attend parent/teacher conferences as required.
  7. Maintain professional learning and growth by attending required training.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
