Job Description
The teaching assistant position is to support and collaborate with the lead classroom teacher as directed by providing instruction to students and assisting the classroom teacher in instructional position may also include scheduled time assisting in the school office with administrative and clerical responsibilities along with providing supervision and support for duties such as lunch carline recess and other school-related activities as assigned
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess the characteristics that reflect:
- A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
- A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
- Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for the Christian Academy School System
- Agreement and belief that he Bible is the final authority concerning truth morality and the proper conduct of mankind
The ideal candidate shall possess the following:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- State teaching certification preferred
Outcomes
- Lead small groups for phonemic awareness activities and provide informal data to the lead classroom teacher
- Lead small groups for re-teaching concepts in math reading or other subjects as determined and provide informal data to the lead classroom teacher
- Comply with lead classroom teachers sequence for the presentation of concepts
- Comply with lead classroom teachers classroom management system
- Accompany students to special area classes and assist as needed
- Prepare instructional materials for teaching (cutting coloring stapling collating pasting etc.)
- Grade papers/tests
- Serve as a substitute teacher when the lead classroom teacher is absent
- Perform other duties as assigned
Accountability
The Elementary Teacher Assistant is accountable to the lead classroom teacher and to the Principal.
Required Experience:
