Position Title:Special Educator

Reports to:Building Principal and/or Department Head

The Integrated Specialized Services (ISS) Program serves students with global disabilities including intellectual impairments who require individualized support across multiple areas of development. Student needs may include academics functional life skills communication social pragmatics motor development sensory processing and health and wellness.

Position Responsibilities:

• Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access curriculum
• Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
• Monitor student progress; revise IEP according to progress
• Co-teach in regular education content area or teach substantially separate subject
• Prepare students for transition to post-high school life
• Communicate with school personnel outside of the department
• Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders

Job Qualifications:

Attendance at departmental and school-wide meetings

• Requisite licensure as defined by the DESE and SEI Endorsement
• Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A strong commitment to helping a wide variety of culturally diverse students achieve their full potential
• Ability to support the development of culturally responsive programs and activities that promote student engagement family engagement community involvement and a positive school climate
