JOB DESCRIPTION

Nurses Assistant

(LVN/LPN)

This position will provide a full-time Nurses Assistant (LVN/LPN) for Pleasant Grove Independent School District.

This employee must:

1) The nurses assistant (LVN/LPN) shall be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate;

2) have three years of experience as an Educational Aide I or II; or

have a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related areas; or

3) have experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the

employing Superintendent; and

4) have the following certifications and keep the following certifications current:

CPR/FIRST AID

SPINAL SCREENINGS

VISUAL/HEARING SCREENINGS

5) be recommended by the employing Superintendent.

The nurses assistant shall have knowledge skills abilities and attitudes of the following nature: ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to communicate and work with students teachers school administrators and the public; to maintain records; to maintain effective working relationship with other auxiliary personnel teachers school administrators and the public; and have a positive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the nurses assistant the school the staff and the students.

Nurse Assistantis presently employed in the above described position. Pay scale and classification will not be less than the minimum compensation plan for Pleasant Grove Independent School District. Nurse Assistantwill be under the immediate direction of the school nurse and through her to the building principals and the Superintendent of Schools.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities:

The employee shall:

1) assist the school nurse in implementing the school health program in accordance with guidelines of the Texas Education Agency in interpreted by the local school board.

2) receive and administer medications in accordance with district policies and regulations.

3) administer first aid treatment in accordance with district policies and regulations.

4) assist the nurse in administering vision and hearing screening.

5) maintain accurate health records for the assigned campus.

6) respect the confidence of instructional personnel and the administration and the confidence of students and student health records.

8) perform other duties as assigned.
