Summary:

Wakefield Public Schools seeks a highly qualified Elementary AssistantPrincipal to join our dedicatedteam of educators committedto creatinga positive engaging andinclusive environment at the Woodville School.

The Assistant Principal plans organizes and implements curricular and administrative functions for the school. These functions may include curriculum and program leadership staff development family communication scheduling main office management school discipline and safety student transportation and facilities oversight.

The Assistant Principal must possess a strong background in early literacy and numeracy with experience as an effective instructional leader.

The Principal oversees the daily operations of the school and provides long-term visioning to ensure student-centered effective and efficient closely with and reporting directly to the Principal the AssistantPrincipalassists the Principalinimplementingpolicies and directives promotingthe success of all students andaccountability in all practices. The Assistant Principal serves as a member of the Leadership Team and provides leadership in directing initiatives of the district. The Assistant Principal serves as the building leader in the absence of the Principal.

EssentialDuties andResponsibilitiesotherdutiesmaybeassigned

  • Assist the Principal in administration of the school and day-to-day management and operations; serve as Principal in the Principals absence
  • Supervise and evaluate staff acting as primary evaluator of assigned faculty members and completing all steps and requirements of the evaluation process
  • Alongside the principalandcurriculum coordinators leadteachers to implementeffective instructional practice and Multi-tiered Systems of support; keep abreast of educational reform and evidence-based best practices in order to serve as an instructional leader
  • Supervise conduct of students and oversee disciplinary procedures; keep accurate records of disciplinary actions
  • Act asaresourcetofacultyandstudents
  • Coordinatetheadministrationofschoolattendancepoliciesandstaff timesheets
  • Manageandpreparetheschoolschedulestaff dutyassignmentsandthecalendarof school activities
  • Communicate regularly withparentsandfamilies;attendmeetingsoftheParent-Teacher Organization (PTO) on a bi-monthly basis or as required

Qualications

  • Education:MastersDegree inEducationorrelated
  • Five yearsteachingexperience
  • Massachusetts Principal/AssistantPrincipallicense
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students teachers administrators andfamilies
  • Strong organizationandexcellentcommunicationskills; demonstratedability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of state and national standards and understanding of research-based bestpractices
