Job Summary
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC Position Description Number Dand is part of the NJ CSMS 1 National Guard.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform field and sustainment maintenance and repair on moderately complex electronics equipment and systems.
As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC WGyou will:
- Repair or replace chassis mounted components.
- Isolate and diagnose cause of circuit/component malfunction.
- Conduct inspection diagnose nature and extent of equipment malfunction.
- Perform initial and final checks and may perform inspections when required on equipment being repaired.
- Inspector on a Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) on electronic automation communication and equipment.
Additional Employment Requirements:
-Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
-Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
-Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance conduct agency needs public interest and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest.
Title 32 Dual-Status Positions:
Military Grade:
Min: E-3 and Max: E-6

Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.
*Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have general experience in the follow:
- Knowledge of electrical or electronic theory and testing procedures
- Using hand tools of the electronics trade and skill in reading schematics
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have 18 months specialized experience in the following:
- Utilizing principles basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment
- Diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems
- Making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment
- Using complex test equipment such as deviation meters complex special test panels etc
- Demonstrating the ability to interpret technical manuals specifications and publications
