Position Summary

The Electromechanical Technician I is a hands-on floor-based role responsible for testing troubleshooting repairing and supporting packaging and mail sorting systems. This position requires direct physical interaction with production and field-returned equipment printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical assemblies. The Test Technician works primarily on the manufacturing and repair floor not at a desk and is actively involved in equipment setup diagnostics and repair at the system and component level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on system-level testing burn-in and validation of packaging and mail sorting equipment on the production floor.
  • Physically troubleshoot and repair equipment at the system sub-system and component level.
  • Test troubleshoot and repair printed circuit boards and electronic devices using diagnostic tools.
  • Perform hands-on evaluation and repair of equipment.
  • Assemble cameras and other peripheral electro-mechanical components.
  • Load configure and verify software and firmware directly on equipment.
  • Accurately complete and submit repair documentation and test records.
  • Work collaboratively with production engineering and quality teams to resolve issues in real time.
  • Maintain a safe organized and efficient work area on the shop floor.
  • Support team objectives by performing related hands-on tasks as needed.


Qualifications
  • Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows-based environments.
  • Component-level knowledge of PCs and electronic assemblies.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools such as Digital Volt Meters (DVM) and oscilloscopes.
  • SMT soldering experience and component-level repair capability.
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude with the ability to work directly on equipment.
  • Comfortable working on the production/repair floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time climb stairs and move between work areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and handle equipment and tools safely.
  • Organized detail-oriented and deadline-driven with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Experience

  • Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent hands-on technical training.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in an electronics manufacturing repair or industrial environment.
  • Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • This role is primarily floor-based and requires regular hands-on interaction with equipment.
  • Frequent standing walking bending and reaching.
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing and repair-floor conditions.
