Position Overview

At North Star Talent Group we connect exceptional talent with exceptional organizations. One of our valued clients is currently seeking a highly qualified Electrical Engineer Power Innovation to join their growing team.

This confidential field-based opportunity will support the safe and efficient commissioning startup and turnover of power-generation and energy systems. The selected candidate will provide hands-on electrical engineering support perform testing and troubleshooting and ensure systems are ready for energization and operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support electrical pre-commissioning commissioning startup and system turnover.
  • Test and troubleshoot switchgear transformers generators protection relays and control systems.
  • Review short-circuit coordination and arc-flash studies for alignment with as-built conditions.
  • Perform or oversee insulation resistance hi-pot relay functional and protection-system testing.
  • Participate in FAT SAT PSSR and readiness-for-startup activities.
  • Support BESS and power-generation system integration and performance testing.
  • Coordinate with project construction controls operations commissioning and vendor teams.
  • Maintain test records inspection reports redlines punch lists and turnover documentation.
  • Resolve field issues and support safe system energization and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC NFPA 70E IEEE and company safety standards.
  • Support process improvements and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • At least four years of experience in electrical engineering power systems commissioning power generation or a related industrial environment.
  • Experience with switchgear transformers generators electrical control systems and protection equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings one-line diagrams schematics and control documentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical commissioning testing startup and system-turnover processes.
  • Ability to work safely in active construction and industrial environments.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer license or active progress toward licensure.
  • Experience with power generation data centers or battery energy storage systems.
  • Experience supporting or leading commissioning and startup activities.
  • Familiarity with FAT SAT PSSR and system-turnover processes.
Technical Skills
  • Power-system analysis tools such as ETAP SKM PSCAD MATLAB or similar.
  • Protection-relay testing and electrical test equipment such as Omicron Doble or Megger.
  • Knowledge of protection coordination arc-flash analysis grid integration energy storage DCS and SCADA systems.
Work Environment and Schedule

This is a field-based role supporting active construction commissioning and startup environments.

The schedule consists of 12-hour rotating shifts seven days on and seven days off. Night weekend and holiday work may occasionally be required.

Candidates must be able to work in industrial environments stand or walk for extended periods climb ladders or scaffolding wear required PPE and lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation

The anticipated pay range for this position is $50$60 per hour. Final compensation will be based on relevant experience education certifications technical expertise and overall qualifications.
