BWSR is the overhaul Program Subcontractor at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho Falls ID. The main project areas at the site include remediation of historical research facilities characterization of site-infrastructure to support on-going maintenance and construction.
Electrical Engineer - BWX Technologies Inc. (BWSR) - Idaho Falls ID
Your Day to Day as an Electrical Engineer:
- Perform detailed electrical engineering in support of construction facility modification and infrastructure upgrade projects at NRF.
- Prepare and revise work procedures calculations electrical drawings and related technical documentation.
- Provide engineering support for electrical power distribution systems equipment modifications and facility improvements.
- Ensure assigned engineering work complies with applicable codes standards regulations and site requirements.
- Support multidisciplined project teams and coordinate with operations project management safety radiological controls environmental procurement quality and other disciplines.
- Conduct field walkdowns technical reviews troubleshooting and engineering evaluations in support of project execution.
- Review drawings specifications vendor submittals and other technical documents for adequacy and compliance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and engineers from other disciplines as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program and a minimum of four years of engineering experience is required.
- Power systems engineering experience is required.
- Experience preparing electrical drawings engineering packages work procedures calculations and technical documentation is required.
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards including NFPA 70 (NEC) NFPA 70E IEEE and other applicable industry standards is required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship is not permitted.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance; current clearance is a plus.
- Must obtain and maintain Radiological Controls and other qualifications as directed by Naval Reactors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer license from Idaho or any other state is highly desired.
- Masters degree is desirable.
- Previous experience in DOE naval nuclear or other highly regulated environment is desirable.

Pay: $86000- $136000
The base salary range for this position in Idaho (US-ID) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86000 and $136000 per year. However the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate such as job-related knowledge skills experience and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical retirement and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired the selected job candidate will be employed at-will unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment compensation or benefit program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance company or individual department/team performance and other market factors.
