Job Summary
This position can be based in Atlanta Charlotte Indianapolis or South Bend. Must be bilingual OF WORKThe Craft Instructor assesses learning needs designs and develops curriculum content and plans and delivers curriculum through the most effective methodologies. All efforts are directed to delivering the best education through research and implementation of effective teaching methods that build and enhance employee skills and competence. The Craft Instructor partners with apprenticeship instructors and staff assigned to assure delivery of craft content meets learner and organizational needs. POSITION REQUIREMENTSUses Gaylor Core Values as tools to carry out all job responsibilitiesPromotes the philosophy of Gaylor Core Values inspires outside-the-box thinking and openness to effectively promote Gaylors cultureStrong administrative organization and communication skillsOrganizes and prioritizes workload to meet deadlines Organizes and maintains schedules agendas and travel arrangementsStrong communication and presentation delivery skillsMust be computer literate and able to process documents in Microsoft Suite in addition to quickly learning Gaylors operating softwareRESPONSIBILITIESLeads assessment of craft education and employee development needs for operationsFacilitates the craft assessment and uses this information to design individual training needsFacilitates continual educational development activities that supports Gaylor career pathwaysWorks collaboratively with operational leadership to plan and facilitate craft education delivery and the craft assessment programDesigns develops and delivers skills driven curriculum that meets participant needs and Gaylors objectives Plans and coordinates content delivery administration and logisticsEvaluates effectiveness of craft education and apprenticeship programmingContinuously reviews existing educational practices and programs especially as it relates to engagement and curriculum effectiveness Coaches skilled craft employees who function as trainers on effective implementation of developed curriculumResearch internal and external best practices and assists with recommendations for continuous improvements in education-related programsIdentifies areas for improvement and provides recommendationsWORKING CONDITIONSMay require working in all elements (heat cold rain snow etc.) depending on job location and/or time of yearMust be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets)Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.)Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime as required on short noticeMust be able to work in noisy environmentsMust be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situationsMust work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasksPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e. hard hat safety glasses gloves high visibility vest safety harness etc.) when requiredAbility to bend stoop squat crawl climb kneel balance push pull and reach overheadRepetitive use of arms hands and fingersPossess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure even if only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for useAbility to work while constantly moving on ones feetAbility to reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balanceAbility to work while sitting or standing for long periodsMust be able to lift up to 20 pounds at timesEDUCATIONHigh school diploma or equivalencyApprenticeship completion or relevant craft electrician certificationEXPERIENCEPrevious experience with training and/or education in the construction industryHigh level of electrical construction skills and experience
