Novelis is seeking an EHS (Health Safety and Environmental) Leader at an operational facility located in Greensboro GA. The position reports to the Greensboro Plant Manager. This person manages environmental compliance health and safety programs; articulates regulatory impact on operations to upper management; investigates recognizes and recommends corrective actions for environmental health and safety compliance issues and continuous improvement actions while functioning in a safe efficient and cost-effective manner.

- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Novelis Performance Standards
- Obtain and maintain up-to-date knowledge in aspects of Safety and Environmental regulations and compliance reporting. Prepare and provide regular progress reports to the plant leadership team and to the corporate office.
- Actively drive the plants efforts in continually improving the safety performance of the plant by chairing the Safety Committee lead monthly plant safety meetings conducting plant safety walk-arounds. Work with the plant supervisors in preparing and conducting monthly crew safety meetings.
- Monitor overall health safety and environmental compliance with federal state and/or corporate requirements. Communicate issues with site leadership and corporate team as necessary.
- Develop implement and manage the necessary training programs and systems to ensure compliance with regulations of State and Federal agencies and company requirements.
- Implement activities and best processes that focus on the prevention of incidents creating safe working environment for all employees contractors and visitors to the plant sites.
- Serve as a coach and facilitator to the team for the risk assessment and behavioral observations processes.
- Identify and resolve safety and environmental issues that may arise fully engaging Corporate Plant Manager and facility personnel in the process.
- Communicate with and maintain professional relationships with environmental agency personnel regarding construction and operating permit issues negotiating potential compliance issues and enforcement actions.
- Represent the company during any agency inspections of the facility coordinating these events with the Plant Manager and the dotted line corporate representatives.
- Review and maintain all environmental permits files and documents. Understand all permit obligations and assure that systems are in place to meet all permit and regulatory requirements assuring that all reporting is done on time and that all reports are accurate.
- Actively participate with Corporate EHS on special projects including training and participating as an EHS internal auditor.
- Request quotes seek purchase approval and lead plant projects as they relate to any required safety equipment and training activities.
- Act as the primary contact between State Workers Compensation and facility responsibilities include providing timely and accurate reports when required and working with Companys insurance management function.
- Serve as the primary contact for environmental and safety consultants/vendors.
- Provide EHS assistance to the capital project managers and sponsors in the preparation of capital requests (RFAs) and complete reviews to ensure that all capital projects are aligned with all regulatory and company requirements.
- Assist with maintaining a positive relationship with the local community
- Adhere to and support company quality environmental health & safety and certification standards including ISO 9001:2015 ISO 14001:2015 ISO 45001:2018 IATF 16949:2016 and ASI Certifications where applicable.
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or similar field and minimum of five (5) years related experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Experience in ISO
- Excellent interpersonal planning organizational time management and communication skills.
- Ability to influence others through coaching and behavior modeling by being clear open fair honest involving others in decisions that affect them supplying resources as needed and listening effectively.
- Possess general knowledge and proficiency in general business and the ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets word processing documents databases and email programs.
- Possess the ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Creativity and innovation for implementation of new programs and employee involvement.
- Capability of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work varied hours be on call and travel occasionally.
- BCSP certification (ASP CSP etc.)
- Experience in ISO AND 9001
- Leadership/team management experience

Novelis Greensboro facility is located in Greensboro Georgia. With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis recycling technologies.
