Job Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing implementing and managing company-wide environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local regulations. This role promotes a culture of safety minimizes workplace risks and supports environmental stewardship initiatives across the organization. The EHS Manager serves as a key resource for ensuring a safe compliant and healthy work environment for all employees.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct regular facility inspections audits and assessments to identify environmental health and safety hazards and risks.
  • Develop implement and maintain inspection procedures schedules and corrective action programs.
  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and environmental regulations.
  • Investigate incidents accidents and near misses and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with management to implement risk mitigation strategies and continuous safety improvements.

Program Development & Training

  • Develop implement and maintain comprehensive environmental health and safety programs across all business units.
  • Create and deliver training programs focused on:
    • Workplace safety
    • Emergency preparedness and response
    • OSHA and regulatory compliance
    • Hazard communication and safe work practices
  • Promote employee engagement and awareness through ongoing safety education and communication initiatives.
  • Support the development of safety-related policies procedures and best practices.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed inspection audit and incident investigation reports.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records related to:
    • Hazardous materials management
    • Employee exposure monitoring
    • Environmental compliance activities
    • Waste handling and discharge requirements
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current accessible and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Compile and analyze safety metrics trends and key performance indicators to support leadership decision-making.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety and environmental performance.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish and achieve safety goals and objectives.
  • Assist during regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs to diverse employee groups.
  • Proficiency with technology equipment and tools used in environmental and safety inspections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and other related software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Health & Safety Occupational Safety Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field.

Preferred

  • Masters degree in Environmental Health & Safety Occupational Safety Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • OSHA Certification (OSHA 30 OSHA 500/510 or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Additional professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk job sites facilities and work areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to travel to multiple work locations as needed.
  • Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
