The Golden Charter Academy is an innovative start-up charter school that opened in Fresno CA in August 2021. It is a place-based science-oriented TK-6th grade school that emphasizes environmental stewardship social justice and equity. The instructional approach employs Universal Design for Learning (UDL) a strategy to provide successful pathways for student success in all learners. GCA has a formal partnership with the Fresno Chaffee Zoo where students utilize the zoo as a living educational will be growing to include 7th grade in the 2025-26 school year and 8th grade for the 2026-27 school year. On February 24 2025 GCA broke ground on its new sustainable green facility across the street from the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

Requirements / QualificationsQualifications- Bachelors degree including all courses to meet credential requirements- Multiple Subjects Credential (Clear strongly preferred)- CA Education Specialist Credential with an authorization in Mild to Moderate and/or Moderate to Severe and English Language Learner authorization. (Authorization in both Moderate to Severe and Mild to Moderate or desire to add additional authorization is strongly preferred.)- Minimum of 3 years successful classroom teaching experience and case management preferred- BCLAD or CLAD certification (highly desirable)Special Knowledge/Skills- Full-time teaching experience in Special Education is strongly preferred- Outstanding written speaking and organizational skills with experience interacting with a broad range of stakeholders. - Experience with field-based and/or place-based education is strongly preferred- Experience with IEP software is strongly preferred- Commitment to the success of all students and the GCA mission vision and values - Proficiency in the native language(s) of the local community strongly preferred- Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) - Demonstrated success teaching students from underserved areas- Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators - Excellent organizational planning and implementation skills- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituencies- Detail-oriented team player willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done

Job Functions and Responsibilities- Participate in GCA teacher development and evaluation process - Model a personal code of ethics aligned with GCA Mission and Vision - Ensure GCAs core values are lived through the charter schools culture- Possess strong content-area knowledge and classroom management skills - Commit to working with educationally under served students - Believe all students can achieve at the highest academic levels- Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development - Contribute to a relentless and dedicated team of outstanding professionals - Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to plan and implement instructional strategies that meet the needs of an individual with exceptional needs. - Work with faculty and administrators to identify highest needs students and create additional supports and strategies for those students including developing lesson plans providing targeted instruction and reworking curriculum - IEP/504 Case Management with goal tracking marking and support; school IEP form and meeting requirements; managing LRE specifications etc.- Schedule and facilitate all IEP and 504 meetings as GCA Case Manager including scheduling all IEP/Tri meetings and observations with districts- Coordinate and communicate with teachers regarding all specific IEP-related issues for students on their caseloads;- Monitor and regulate IEP timelines; edit and approve all IEPs and 504s; update IEP goal marking spreadsheet with new goal info and communicate to staff- Perform educational assessments in accordance with California State Standards SELPA guidelines GCA policy school programs and IEP goals- Maintain records and accurate reporting to ensure compliance with IDEA and ADA- Manage time before during and after school flexibly to allow for instructional planning and case management - Build trusting and respectful relationships with teachers and students - Develop family education programs and individual or group advising to assist families in the understanding and remediation of exceptional needs when appropriate - Consult with parents and/or guardians and members of related disciplines including outside agencies regarding the needs of an individual with exceptional needs. - Provide consultative and resource services for special projects involving students with exceptional needs at individual school sites and at the organization level. - Implement various instructional strategies and curricula in the following environments: core classes field experiences intervention classes small group and one-on-one student pull out. - Act as day-to-day and long-term substitute when site-level teaching faculty are absent or on leave providing continuity of educational experience for students with exceptionalities Other InformationThe school will add an additional grade every year thereafter until it is a TK 8th school. The 187-day work year for certificated staff will commence August 2024 and go through May 2025. The 2024-25 school year will continue with the 10-month work schedule unless noted otherwise. Additionally compensated workdays will be required in the Spring and Summer in preparation for the beginning of the school job primarily operates on a school site and in classrooms and utilizes typical office equipment (computers phones photocopiers etc.). Physical demands include: positioning to lift (should be able to lift up to 30 pounds to waist high) carry push and/or pull kneel stoop crouch and bend. Generally the job is 60% Stationary and 40% moving/traversing. Travel required for visits to other local school sites or the Home Office (as needed).
