Summary:
The echocardiographer will provide the highest quality and accurate exams to patients in our community. The technologist will work closely with our cardiovascular team to ensure that the services are provided timely and are based on current standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform all echocardiographic procedures on adults (18 years and older) in a professional manner and acquiring the highest quality studies possible
2. Prepare educate and assist patients their families & their physicians in the mechanisms of echocardiographic procedures & the purpose of these procedures
3. Effectively understand & demonstrate the proper use of all echocardiographic equipment. Demonstrate the ability to vary the use of the echocardiographic equipment methods & calculations for each individual of all adult age groups
4. Accurately complete all imaging and document associated with procedures in an efficient & timely manner
5. Safely & effectively organizes work area & supplies. Schedule patients in an efficient manner utilizing the proper communication methods to work with other areas of the health system. Demonstrating an awareness of efficient & cost effective workflow.
6. Work as an effective team member within the echo lab the cardiology department the hospital and the health system for all required shifts
7. Participate in the echo department procedural decision-making process. Suggest possible procedural and policy changes to add to the cost effective efficient workflow while maintaining high quality work
8. Participate in educational and quality control meetings within the department as well as at the local state & national level. Maintain adequate continuing medical education units to stay current in the field
9. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position
10. Perform all other duties as assigned
Education Skills Experience:
Graduate from an accredited ultrasound education program with a cardiac focus
Ultrasound certification from ARDMAS or CCI in echocardiography (if not current to be obtained within one year of employment)
Minimum of one year job-related experience preferred
