Job Summary

Job Title: Driver Trainee

Reports to: Supervisor of Transportation

Dept./School: Transportation

Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

Pay Grade: AuxiliaryI until training completed

Days: 179

Primary Purpose:

Complete training to earn a Commercial Drivers License and become a district bus driver.

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED is preferred

Ability to obtain a valid Texas commercial drivers license within

allotted time

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively
  • Ability to pass randomized drug and alcohol test
  • Must be 21years of age

Experience:

None

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with transportation staff to successfully complete CDL training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position of a Bus Monitor as needed

There are a number of deadlines associated with this position which may cause significant stress. The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Predictable and regular attendance expected.
