The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Cosmetologist to provide hair care and hair removal services. This individual will coordinate the operation of the Facility Hair Care Shop and maintain sanitary conditions while meeting current health addition they will maintain records make progress reports and schedule services for individuals in custody. - Provides hair care services and hair removal services.
- Coordinates the operation of the Facility Hair Care Shop.
- Maintains Hair Care Shop in a sanitary condition and meets current health standards.
- Maintains records and makes reports on the progress of individuals in custody.
- Schedules services for individuals in custody.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school.
- Requires possession of a current Illinois license as a Cosmetologist issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of hair care equipment and tools.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience using modern methods and techniques in beauty and hair care.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience performing hair care duties for residents of state facilities or individuals in custody who may have various physical or intellectual impairments.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience effectively safeguarding hair care equipment and tools from others.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience ordering supplies and inventory for a hair care shop.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in scheduling own appointments and making own schedule.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience providing various hair care services to individuals in custody.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience keeping records related to services performed.
- Required to maintain active and current Illinois license as a Cosmetologist issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies.
- Requires the ability to work under physically demanding conditions such as exposure to chemicals or standing for extended periods of time.
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee regardless of position held is prohibited.
- Required to utilize digital technology tools platforms and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency productivity and digital transformation efforts within the department.
