The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a detailoriented and customerfocused Special Registration Technician to join our this role you will beresponsible for processing specialized license plate applications managing plate and decal inventory and reconciling related financial transactions. This role also investigates and resolves Highway Use Fee disputes while ensuring all actions comply with DMV policies and regulatory requirements. The technician coordinates workflow with team members provides guidance on complex registration issues and responds to customer inquiries and escalations. By maintaining accuracy efficiency and exceptional service the Special Registration Technician supports DMVs mission of delivering reliable customerfocused operations and upholding statewide compliance standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience performing administrative clerical or customerservice duties in a fastpaced environment.
Ability to interpret and apply policies procedures and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with computer systems data entry and recordkeeping.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and verify complex documentation.
Effective communication skills for interacting with customers coworkers and external partners.
Ability to analyze information resolve discrepancies and make sound decisions.
Additional Considerations
Familiarity with specialized license plate programs or Highway Use Fee policies.
Experience in DMV operations or vehicle registration processing.
Experience using DMV systems databases or workflow tools.
Background Check: Must pass a fingerprint-based background check.
Licensure: Must possess a valid drivers license with no less than 6 demerit points and no major convictions.
