Plans organizes directs and manages warehouse personnel resources order preparation inventory flow shipping receiving and supporting operations to achieve customer service safety quality productivity inventory accuracy and cost objectives. Provides formal leadership for warehouse employees establishes operating priorities allocates resources monitors performance and leads corrective actions and continuous improvement across the distribution operation.
- Lead direct coach and develop warehouse personnel to achieve operational safety quality productivity and customer service objectives.
- Plan staffing levels schedules workload assignments and resource allocation based on customer demand operating priorities and business requirements.
- Establish clear performance expectations monitor results provide feedback conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action in accordance with company policy.
- Interview select onboard train and develop employees while supporting engagement retention cross-training and succession planning.
- Address employee concerns resolve day-to-day workplace issues and promote accountability teamwork and consistent application of standard work.
- Direct daily warehouse activities including order fulfillment shipping receiving storage inventory control material movement driver coverage clerk activities key making picking and packing.
- Organize staff manage workload and assign responsibilities to maintain safe efficient and uninterrupted operations.
- Provide the resources equipment training and operating direction required for employees to perform assigned work effectively.
- Monitor operational performance and implement timely corrective actions for service quality safety staffing throughput or productivity concerns.
- Coordinate communication of relevant warehouse activities constraints priorities and projects with appropriate internal partners and leadership.
- Own warehouse order fulfillment performance and ensure customer orders are prepared processed and shipped in accordance with established service quality carrier and customer requirements.
- Analyze customer and business requirements and convert them into effective shipping receiving labor and distribution plans.
- Oversee order-processing invoicing shipment loading carrier service-level special-shipment and premium-freight exceptions and ensure appropriate corrective actions are completed.
- Direct receiving activities to support timely and accurate receipt verification system processing and disposition of inbound materials transfers returns and special deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable domestic international common-carrier parcel and transportation requirements.
- Directly supervise employees performing picking packing and key-making activities and ensure work is completed safely accurately and in accordance with quality and customer requirements.
- Own throughput performance for picking packing and key-making lines including staffing workflow output efficiency quality and schedule attainment.
- Monitor line capacity labor utilization constraints bottlenecks downtime and work-in-process and implement actions to maintain operational flow.
- Balance staffing and priorities across lines to meet demand while controlling labor cost and protecting customer delivery performance.
- Ensure employees are trained to standard work and that productivity quality and throughput expectations are understood and consistently achieved.
- Own finished-goods inventory control and inventory-accuracy performance across warehouse operations.
- Direct cycle-counting physical-inventory reconciliation and discrepancy-investigation activities and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor inventory levels shortages aging discrepancies and material-flow risks to support customer requirements and effective use of warehouse space.
- Ensure FIFO and other established inventory-control requirements are consistently followed.
- Oversee resolution of warehouse product-quality concerns and ensure issues are addressed through the appropriate containment and corrective action process.
- Monitor packaging availability and ensure replenishment actions are completed to prevent disruption to warehouse and shipping operations.
- Maintain high safety standards building security access control housekeeping organization and compliance throughout warehouse operations.
- Ensure compliance with the company quality system customer-specific requirements departmental procedures work instructions and applicable laws and regulations.
- Determine equipment and maintenance requirements establish maintenance schedules and coordinate resources needed to support reliable operations.
- Ensure personnel receive required safety equipment process and compliance training and follow established requirements.
- Lead corrective actions related to safety security quality equipment facility or compliance concerns.
- Lead continuous improvement activities focused on customer service throughput inventory accuracy productivity quality safety labor efficiency and cost performance.
- Analyze operational performance measures identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with plants and cross-functional teams to implement and standardize best practices across the warehouse operation.
- Establish maintain and improve departmental procedures work instructions visual controls and standard work.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the purpose and level of the position as assigned by management.
- Directly supervises up to 30 regular El Paso employees
- Directly supervises 10-15 temporary El Paso employees
- Approve daily staffing schedules workload priorities work assignments and resource allocation within established operational requirements.
- Adjust labor and line priorities to protect safety quality throughput inventory accuracy and customer delivery performance.
- Initiate corrective actions for employee performance operational safety quality inventory equipment service or compliance concerns.
- Approve operating responses and escalation actions required to address order-fulfillment shipment receiving capacity or resource constraints within assigned authority.
- Escalate significant customer-service staffing inventory quality equipment capacity cost or business risks to Supply Chain leadership.
Education | Associate degree in business supply chain logistics operations or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. |
Experience | Minimum of three years of experience in warehousing distribution logistics production planning or a similar operational environment including demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibility. Experience with AS400 not required but a plus. |
Language | Bilingual English-Spanish preferred. Ability to read and interpret safety rules operating instructions procedure manuals and applicable requirements; write routine reports and correspondence; and communicate effectively with employees customers managers and cross-functional partners. |
Knowledge | Working knowledge of inventory control shipping receiving order fulfillment warehouse operations common carriers parcel services international shipping requirements safety practices and warehouse systems. |
Core Skills | People leadership workforce planning performance management decision making problem solving data analysis communication prioritization continuous improvement and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities. |
Certifications | Supervisory or leadership training preferred. Basic OSHA training and any equipment or operational certifications required by company policy or assigned responsibilities. |
The position operates in a warehouse and distribution environment and requires regular presence in active shipping receiving storage picking packing and key-making work areas. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 Lbs.
