Job Summary
The Director of Sterile Processing is responsible for planning organizing directing and controlling the activities of personnel engaged in the production of patient care items for surgical and medical procedures. The incumbent manages the purchasing and production responsibilities to insure adequate quantity and quality of supplies.
Responsibilities
and controls departmental capital and operating budget for suppliesexpenses and inventory accounts.
communicates with administration and hospital departments to ensure theeffective and efficient operations and distribution of supplies and servicesfor patient care.
3.Coordinates functions and sterile processing activities to complywith regulatory agency requirements. ie. Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
4.Prepares and monitors operating and capital budget funds annually.
5.Interviews recruits and hires personnel in areas of responsibility. Completes employee performance appraisals takes disciplinary actions and terminates personnel as required.
updates and directs maintenance of departmental policies andprocedures manuals as they relate to Sterile Processing operations.
ensures maintenance of standards concerning decontamination cleaningsterilization storage and distribution of supplies and equipment.
for quality control and infection control within the department andcontinually evaluates standards for revision and up-dating as necessary.
of adequate supplies and equipment including evaluating requestsfor and ordering of new equipment.
proper operation andmaintenance of departmental equipment and arrange for repair or replacement asnecessary.
and counselssupervisors and departmental personnel concerning work related problems.
preparation andmaintenance of departmental records and reports to be used as references andanalyzing tools.
closely withdepartments utilizing sterile supplies in order to determine and evaluate needfor new equipment or repair and replacement of equipment.
staff provides highquality infection control and patient focused services.
with The American Society for Healthcare Central ServiceProfessionals (ASHCSP) and/or International Association of Healthcare CentralService Material Management (IAHCSMM) preferred.
16.Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required. Masters preferred
- Minimum five years experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room and management/leadership roles required. Previous management experience required.
- Central Sterile certification
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician by International Associate Of Health Care Central Service Material Management ( IAHCSMM)
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $139748.00 - $209622.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
