THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a highly respected award-winning architecture firm with more than two decades of work for South Floridas public owners: municipal facilities public safety parks and recreation education and community buildings. The founder has handed leadership to the current principals and the firm is now building its leadership bench for the next stage of growth.

The principals are hiring a Director of Project Management to take day-to-day project and architectural leadership off their plates. This is not a senior project manager seat with a larger title. You will lead a team of six project managers four of them senior. Your primary output is their performance and the first measure of success is simple: within six months the PMs come to you first.

THE FIRM

A collaborative open-door studio of roughly twenty professionals that has intentionally protected its culture while building a portfolio of public work that outlasts market cycles. Repeat public-sector relationships a clear pipeline and principals who want a partner in running the practice rather than another pair of hands. Client identity is disclosed to qualified candidates under confidentiality.

THE MANDATE

Directly manage and mentor the firms six project managers

Set consistent project management expectations and procedures and hold the team to them

Review project status schedules budgets staffing and workload across the portfolio

Hold PMs accountable for fee schedule and quality

Identify troubled projects early before they reach the principals

Assign the right people to the right work and balance the studios load

Stand alongside the principals with key public-sector clients and on pursuits

Bring design leadership where the work calls for it

FIRST-YEAR SCOREBOARD

By ninety days every project manager reports to you and performance reviews run on a fixed cadence. By six months procedures are documented and in use and no project has reached the principals in trouble without your early warning. By twelve months fee schedule and quality performance are measurably better at least one PM has grown under your leadership and the principals have their time back for growth and key clients.

WHO FITS

You are an active Florida Registered Architect with at least eight years of architectural and project management experience ideally ten or more who has already led other project managers and wants a seat where that is the job not a side duty.
