Job Summary

POSITION TITLE:Director of Data Services

EXEMPTION STATUS:Exempt

REPORTS TO:Executive Director of School Leadership Secondary

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As assigned per contract 2026-2027 school year

Primary Purpose

Responsible for the overall management of the Data Services Department and strategic planning of technology systems districtwide.Provideexpertiseand direction in the development deployment and use of information technology in the district.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Bachelors degree in computer scienceorrelatedfield

Special Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of Student Information System (SIS) and software applications

Knowledge of computer applications development and implementation

Ability to manage budget and personnel; coordinate district function implement policy and procedure

Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to interpret data

MinimumExperience

Fiveyearsofexperience in supervision and management of an information systems department for largeorganizations

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Technology and Information Management

  • Analyze complex business needs presented by schools and administrativedepartments anddevelop and implement technical solutions. Explain technology solutions to senior management through presentation and advocacy
  • Manage direct and assign priorities and personnel to major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals andobjectives
  • Collaborate with district personnel toimplement district standards and specifications for(SIS)and software use
  • Devise develop implement andmaintainsystems of internal controls emergency and backup procedures proper licensing system upgrades and disaster recovery plans to ensure integrity of information security of databases and internal network access control
  • Oversee support between the education service center and district staff including programming application support and end-user support
  • Supervise the collection integration and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission according to TEA PEIMS Data Standards.
  • Assistcampuses and administrative departments in the management of information relating to attendance grade reporting scheduling demographic health budgetary and finance information.
  • Train and increase district knowledge in data management accuracy compliance and consequences.

Policy Reports and Law

  • Implement the policiesestablishedby federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policyin the area ofinformation management and technology
  • Compilemaintain and file all reports records and other documents as
  • Participate in the research of and application for technology-related grants or revenue sources
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

Budget and Inventory

  • Develop and administer theData Servicesbudget based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost-effectiveand funds are managed wisely.
  • Coordinate the purchase of all computer hardware software and supplies initiate purchaseordersand bidsin accordance withbudgetary limitations and district policies

Personnel Management

  • Prepare review and reviseData Servicesdepartmentjob descriptions.
  • Select train supervise and evaluate staff and make recommendations related to assignment retention discipline and dismissal.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise evaluate and recommend the hiring and firing of Data Services department employees.

  • Keep informed of andcomply withlawspolicies and regulations concerning job function.
  • Maintainexpertisein management information systems office automation software decision support systems database technologies business intelligence applications knowledge management tools and various instructional software and learning systems.
