Job Summary
The Director of Communications is a strategic leader responsible for developing maintaining executing and overseeing the organizations internal and external communications. This role ensures consistent transparent and impactful messaging that supports organizational priorities aligning to AHAs mission vision and values.
In addition this role serves as the primary liaison for general IT operations coordinating with external IT vendors and ensuring the organizations technology infrastructure effectively supports communication and operational needs. This role reports to the Executive Director.
Strategic Planning
Develop and execute communications strategies that align with AHA goals.
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organizational goals and community impact.
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on messaging branding and public positioning.
Ensure consistency of voice tone and brand across all communication channels.
Develop and execute information technology (IT) strategies.
Public Relations and Social Media
Manages media relations and press releases.
Act as the main spokesperson partner with Executive Director and Senior Staff.
Develop and manage the organizations social media strategy across all platforms.
Oversee content creation publishing schedules and performance analytics.
Ensure timely engaging and brand-aligned digital communications.
Crisis Communications
Lead communications efforts during critical events or crises.
Internal and External Communications
Oversee messaging to employees internal and external stakeholders.
Lead the creation and dissemination of internal communications to ensure staff alignment engagement and transparency.
Oversee all external communications including public announcements community updates and stakeholder messaging.
Content and Branding
Manage digital content (websites social media) branding and marketing materials.
Design and execute communications campaigns that promote organizational initiatives programs and services.
Support community outreach efforts through strategic messaging and engagement plans.
Monitor public perception and recommend strategies to enhance reputation and visibility.
Team Leadership
Supervise public relations staff administration and IT communications.
Serve as the internal point of contact for general IT needs across the organization.
Coordinate with external IT contractors to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and system maintenance.
Support the integration of technology solutions that enhance communication data sharing and operational efficiency.
Partner with leadership to identify and prioritize IT needs aligned with organizational goals.
Manage department expenses
External partnerships & Vendor Management
Design and execute communications campaigns that promote organizational initiatives programs and services.
Support community outreach efforts through strategic messaging and engagement plans.
Monitor public perception and recommend strategies to enhance reputation and visibility.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in public administration Communications or Business preferred.
- At least 3 years of professional and/or technical related experience required.
- At least 5 years of well-rounded HR experience including some time in a role with leadership responsibilities.
- Personal Computer copier fax and other general business equipment
Accurate in their communications never misrepresenting the facts or shading the truth.
Honest in promising what can be delivered and dependable in following through on work commitments.
Willing to share business information with those who have a need to know it and ensuring that the communication takes place.
Strong writing and editing skills
Demonstrated experience with digital communications social media strategy and campaign management.
Experience managing external vendors and cross-functional partnerships.
Familiarity with basic IT operations and experience coordinating with IT vendors preferred.

Additional Information :
Salary $105 600 based on education and experience.
