Job Summary
Director External Reporting & Technical Accounting Job Summary: The External Reporting and Technical Accounting Director leads a team of experienced accounting professionals responsible for the preparation of Nuveens quarterly and annual financial statements as well as providing technical accounting guidance on complex transactions. This role holds end-to-end accountability for the accuracy completeness and timeliness of external financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements and provides strategic accounting support on mergers acquisitions and other complex business transactions.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Leads the team responsible for the preparation and review of Nuveens quarterly and annual audited financial statements ensuring accuracy completeness and conformance with U.S. GAAP IFRS and internal reporting standards and ensuring all deliverables are produced on a timely basis in accordance with established reporting calendars.
Coordinates with external auditors legal tax and other key stakeholders to facilitate a well-controlled and efficient audit and reporting cycle.
Serves as the organizations primary technical accounting resource providing authoritative guidance and thought and strategic leadership on the accounting implications of complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions restructurings new product launches and other non-routine business activities.
Leads technical accounting assessments for proposed and executed transactions researching relevant accounting literature documenting conclusions in formal accounting memos and communicating findings clearly to finance leadership and other key stakeholders.
Monitors and evaluates the impact of emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments issued by FASB SEC and other standard-setting bodies advising senior leadership on implications for Nuveens financial reporting and proactively driving implementation efforts.
Partners closely with FP&A to support Investor Relations reporting and other external-facing financial communications ensuring alignment between audited financial results and management reporting narratives presented to investors and other external stakeholders.
Oversees change management for Oracle FCCS the enterprise financial consolidation and reporting platform partnering with the Data Operations and Technology teams to manage system enhancements process improvements and controls updates in a manner that safeguards the integrity of reported financial data.
Manages and develops a high-performing team through regular coaching timely performance feedback and the formal performance review process fostering a culture of technical excellence accountability and continuous professional growth.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
- 5 years of controls audit accounting or finance experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 years of controls audit accounting or finance experience.
- CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred
- Demonstrated experience in external financial reporting and technical on complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions
Anticipated Posting End Date:
Base Pay Range: $134000/yr - $196000/yrActual base salary may vary based upon but not limited to relevant experience time in role base salary of internal peers prior performance business sector and geographic addition to base salary the competitive compensation package may include depending on the role participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example annual discretionary incentive programs non-annual sales incentive plans or other non-annual incentive plans).
