Job Description:

The Director of the Center for Personal and Professional Development provides strategic leadership manages staff and budgets designs and oversees training programs and ensures alignment of initiatives with institutional priorities objectives and goals.

The Wittenberg Center for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) is designed to help students grow both personally and professionally. Rooted and Open calls ELCA universities rooted in Lutheran theology to help students explore larger questions about their purpose and calling in life. The center offers structured and informal opportunities for self-reflection discernment conversations about vocation and calling goal setting and skill-building. This will include individual and group coaching sessions workshops guest speakers identity-building activities and professional experiential learning opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Set the strategic direction for the center developing and implementing long-term goals policies and programs that align with the universitys mission and objectives.

  • Monitor day-to-day program delivery gather assessment perform data analysis and recommend improvement to ensure programs meet needs.
  • Provide useful accurate and timely data and career outcomes to constituents; Write reports on center success.
  • Collaborate with on-campus partners to enhance programmatic support and offerings for students.
  • Hire train supervise evaluate and mentor center staff.
  • Financial Management:
  • Prepare annual center budget authorize purchases and monitor expenditures.
  • Explore outside-funding initiatives including but not limited to grant funding opportunities and partner sponsorships.
  • Demonstrate support for community and belonging as well as participate in maintaining a respectful positive work environment
Requirements:

  • Education: Masters degree in counseling college student personnel higher education or related area of study.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience working in higher education and relevant work experience in career advising or related field
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to take initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with key constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and professionally anticipate needs and communicate proactively.
  • Demonstrated success delivering personal and professional development advice.
  • Experience advising on resumes interviewing and job search strategies.
  • Ability to have a positive outlook and see the best in others.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of unique challenges to achieving post-graduate success after a liberal arts education.
  • Belief in the fundamental value of a residential liberal arts education and its application to life after college.
  • Night and weekend work will be required depending on campus events and needs.
  • Open to traveling locally regionally and nationally for specific pre-planned programs
  • Must be able to successfully pass all background checks as applicable to the position
  • on campus in Springfield Ohioand may be eligible for consideration of a flexible work schedule based on the universitys policies which are subject to change.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or trained in self-assessment tools such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator StrengthsFinder and DiSC assessment.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with the Lutheran concept of vocation.
  • Experience working at a small liberal arts higher education institution.
  • Experience with career services platforms such as Handshake.
