Summary:

The Digital Services Librarian is responsible for maintaining updating customizing and troubleshooting the Moody Medical Librarys digital resources including the discovery service subscription databases and website.

Scope: Moody Medical Library provides comprehensive information support services to all who are engaged in teaching patient care research administration and public service.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that the Librarys digital and print resources are fully and accurately represented in the discovery service.
• Monitors automated holdings updates in the library management system and works with the Head of Technical Services to resolve problems.
• Customizes discovery service user interface and troubleshoots linking issues.
• Optimizes presentation of discovery service search results through deduplication grouping related records ranking of results and ordering of full text links.
• Conducts user testing and accessibility reviews of the Library website and makes updates in consultation with other Library staff members and UTMB Web Services.
• Troubleshoots access issues with the Librarys subscription databases.
• Configures and customizes subscription databases settings including IP ranges link resolvers and branding.
• Generates statistical reports related to library holdings usage of the discovery service and Library website traffic.
• Represents the Library at relevant campus and consortia meetings.
• Participates in library special projects.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
• Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of HTML and CSS; some knowledge of XML and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with library digital services including library management systems discovery services electronic databases EZproxy and Open URL link resolvers.
• Knowledge of metadata workflows.
• Experience with website editing user testing and content management systems.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills oral and written communication skills and problem-solving skills
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of post-MLS work experience.

Salary: The starting salary for this position is $65000 with additional compensation commensurate with the candidates qualifications experience and demonstrated expertise.

Supervision Received: Head of Technical Services

Relocation Assistance: Available to qualified candidates whose new work location is at least 50 miles farther from their former residence than their former work location based on the shortest most direct and commonly used route.
