- Prepare organize clean label and quality-check microscopy slides for digital scanning.
- Process and track pathology specimens and requests ensuring accurate documentation and timely handling.
- Match slides with corresponding paperwork and maintain specimen integrity through all stages of processing and transport.
- Perform slide scanning support activities including loading/unloading slides and reviewing scanned images for quality.
- Package transport receive and distribute specimens slides and laboratory materials according to established procedures.
- Utilize laboratory information systems (Beaker EPIC/IHIS and other databases) to document track and manage cases and specimens.
- Collaborate with pathologists histology staff and other laboratory teams to support diagnostic and operational needs.
- Maintain laboratory equipment perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks and ensure a safe organized and compliant work environment.
- Adhere to all safety confidentiality quality assurance and regulatory requirements while providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Assist with inventory management documentation problem resolution and other departmental projects and operational activities as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or higher preferred in medical laboratory technology or biological science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High levelof interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Analytical ability and critical thinking to gather and interpret data and develop recommend and implement solutions.
- Ability tomaintainand seek new knowledge related toevidenced-based practice patient care issues quality improvement cost reduction and current policies procedures and protocols.
- Stays current with knowledge and technicalskills within Histology and Pathology.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) PACS documentation standards and patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Understands electronic equipment and computerized lab equipment.
- Demonstrates discipline-specific technical skills.
