Diesel Mechanic

Abacus is looking to hire a Diesel Mechanic in the Beltsville MD area.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Technical Excellence: Diagnose and repair engines electrical systems and hydraulic components.
• Independence: Troubleshoot issues independently often with minimal diagnostic tools.
• Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes brake inspections and fluid checks.
• Compliance: Ensure DOT compliance with thorough inspections and accurate documentation.
• Response: Respond quickly to driver-reported issues to minimize downtime.
• Heavy Repair: Perform or assist with engine rebuilds and dumpster repairs (including welding).
• Leadership Track: Collaborate with ownership to improve maintenance workflows and safety protocols.

What Were Looking For:

• Experience: 5 years of diesel maintenance experience (technical school training is a plus).
• Skills: Strong understanding of hydraulics brakes electrical systems and engine diagnostics.
• Tools: Proficiency with hand tools power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Licensing: Valid drivers license and medical card required; CDL is a plus.
• Physical: Ability to lift 50 lbs work in all weather conditions and stand for long periods.
• Mindset: A lead-by-example attitude with a desire to transition into management.

Schedule:

• Typical Week: 4550 hours per week (Overtime pay included).
• Availability: Includes some weekends and travel; on-call for emergency maintenance needs.
