Overview
ExxonMobil is seeking a Development and Production Geoscientist to support the companys funded Guyana deepwater projects spanning both actively producing assets and projects currently in the planning and drilling execution phase. This is a one year fully onsite assignment based at ExxonMobils Spring Texas campus. The geoscientist will integrate seismic well log core and stratigraphic data to build subsurface interpretations that inform reservoir characterization resource uncertainty and field development planning. The role sits within an integrated team of geoscientists and reservoir engineers in a highly collaborative organization and experienced candidates will be expected to mentor early career staff as the Guyana enterprise continues to grow.
Responsibilities
Integrate seismic well log core and stratigraphic data to build regionally consistent subsurface interpretations for reservoir characterization.
- Support field scale development planning including high grading development inventory and generating appraisal strategies.
- Characterize and communicate key subsurface risks and uncertainties to inform business investment decisions.
- Partner with reservoir engineering colleagues on well planning drilling execution and technology development.
- Update and contribute to geo models used for reservoir characterization across active and startup projects.
- Assess uncertainty in resource size and static geologic parameters particularly for projects entering the startup and execution phase.
- Evaluate appraisal potential through prospect generation maturation and drilling opportunities.
- Own specific scope or reservoirs while integrating with peers across an integrated multi discipline project team.
- Collaborate across disciplines regularly sharing work and giving and receiving feedback within the broader Guyana team.
- Mentor and support early career geoscientists as part of the teams continued growth.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in development and production geoscience or a related discipline; 10 or more years strongly preferred.
- Effective quantitative interpretation skills with the ability to work independently.
- Experience with seismic interpretation and subsurface mapping.
- Demonstrated ability to build integrated regionally consistent interpretations using seismic well log and core data.
- Experience in reservoir characterization and uncertainty analysis and assessment.
- Proficiency in Petrel or Kingdom software.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in report writing and the ability to communicate subsurface risk and uncertainty to support business decisions.
- Ability to work effectively within and across diverse multi discipline team environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in geoscience or a related field; a bachelors degree will be considered with strong industry experience.
- Experience in well planning and execution to support drilling operations.
- 4D seismic interpretation experience.
- Experience building or contributing to geo models.
- Conventional or deepwater reservoir experience.
- Prior ExxonMobil experience.
- Demonstrated mentoring experience particularly supporting early career geoscientists.
