Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Developer/Programmer Analyst III to support the development maintenance enhancement and modernization of large-scale enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java SQL databases Linux environments and enterprise application support. This role involves leading development efforts troubleshooting complex production issues coordinating technical activities and participating in modernization initiatives including migration from legacy mainframe systems to Java-based platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the coding testing debugging and deployment of enterprise applications.
- Design develop and maintain Java-based applications.
- Create and review technical designs flowcharts and system documentation.
- Prepare and coordinate production support procedures and end-user documentation.
- Analyze business requirements and develop technical solutions.
- Design develop and optimize SQL queries stored procedures packages and database triggers.
- Evaluate database schemas and improve database performance.
- Troubleshoot application issues by analyzing logs system messages memory utilization thread connectivity and system performance.
- Monitor Linux-based application environments.
- Recommend and implement application performance improvements.
- Develop backup and recovery processes to support business continuity.
- Lead technical research for new projects system enhancements and software modifications.
- Coordinate development activities across team members.
- Establish programming standards best practices and development procedures.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Support application modernization initiatives involving legacy mainframe migration to Java/SQL platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- 15 years of Java development experience.
- 10 years of SQL database development and administration experience.
- 8 years supporting and enhancing large enterprise applications in a team environment.
- 5 years of Linux experience.
- Strong experience with application troubleshooting and production support.
- Experience developing technical documentation and system design artifacts.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience leading development activities and coordinating technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience with Atlassian tools particularly Jira.
- 8 years of experience working in Agile development environments.
- Experience supporting State of Texas applications.
- Experience working within the Texas Department of Public Safety environment.
- Experience modernizing legacy mainframe applications into Java and SQL-based solutions.
