DESKTOP ENGINEER Anchorage AK

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

HOURS OF WORK:Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm

LOCATION: 632 W 6th Ave 4th Floor - City Hall

The Desktop Engineer under general direction will apply analytical and problem solving skills to identify and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT system investments. Responsible for both the configuration and operation of system tools used to manage the Microsoft Windows desktop infrastructure application packaging and desktop compliance. Monitors system performance for accuracy efficiency and recommends technical upgrades. Provides technical advice guidance and informal training to both coworkers and customers. Acts as primary point of escalation for Office of Information Technology (OITs) Direct Services team of nine when technical issues exceed their scope of knowledge or skill set. Lead teams of two or three member in support of OIT project efforts. Performother duties as assigned.
