Delawares Attorney General the States chief law enforcementofficer has a broad responsibility to combat crime uphold civil rightssafeguard families provide legal services to entirety of state government andfight fraud.

In the Civil Division approximately 80 attorneys provide legal support to theexecutive branch agencies in the form of general counsel advice administrativehearing prosecutions board representation and all stages of civillitigation.

The CivilDivision Administrative Law & Education Unit seeks a Deputy AttorneyGeneral to serve as Unit Head in the Kent County office.

This is a great opportunity to lead a dedicated team that supportsthe Department of Education the Department of Insurance the Division ofProfessional Regulation the Department of Agriculture and the Department ofJustices Freedom of Information Act Office as well as most of the Title 24boards and commissions.

If selected you will carry your own caseload and direct andmanage other Deputy Attorneys General and the Assistant Unit Head; cooperatewith other Unit Heads; carry out the direction and delegation of uppermanagement; and perform other managerial tasks as needed.

The unit primarily to represent the followingprofessional administrative boards of the State: Real Estate CommissionCouncil on Real Estate Appraisers Board of Professional Land Surveyors Boardof Manufactured Home Installation Delaware Board of Occupational TherapyPractice Board of Chiropractic Board of Accountancy Board of FuneralServices Board of Electrical Examiners Board of Plumbing HeatingVentilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Examiners Commission on AdultEntertainment Establishments Board of Charitable Gaming Board of Examiners ofNursing Home Administrators Environmental Appeals Board and Coastal ZoneIndustrial Control Board. The work will include advising the boards onapplicable legal standards drafting and reviewing legislation and regulationsadvising on Delawares Freedom of Information Act compliance attending publicmeetings and handling representation of the boards in court and administrativeprocedures including drafting orders of the board.

Membershipin Delaware Bar is required. The most qualified candidates have someadministrative law or board representation experience; however such expertiseand experiences are not required for selection. The DAG should be able to takea proactive approach to assisting their agency clients therefore a successfulcandidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to identifypotential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues to minimizeor avoid future legal action. The DAG should be able to workindependently meet deadlines communicate clearly with client agencies andshould have demonstrated legal ability and a thorough knowledge of relevantlaws and court rules.

The DAGmust be available for some evenings meetings. Flex time will beallowed.
