Deputy Attorney General I-VFraud & Consumer Protection Division

The Delaware Department of Justice is seeking anexceptional and highly motivated individual to join the Consumer ProtectionUnit within the Fraud & Consumer Protection Division in the New CastleCounty office as a Deputy Attorney General.

The Consumer Protection Unit has enforcement authorityover more than 40 different state and federal laws with a focus on theConsumer Fraud Act and the Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act in Title 6 ofthe Delaware Code. The Consumer Protection Unit prosecutes civil andadministrative cases and also conducts multistate investigations incoordination with other states attorney general offices.

This Deputy Attorney General will be responsible forall phases of litigation and other enforcement actions including working withspecial investigators conducting consumer protection investigations draftingand filing initial pleadings conducting discovery engaging in settlementnegotiations and trying cases before a jury judge or administrative hearingofficer. This Deputy Attorney General will manage complex litigation asnecessary in all Delaware courts and will often be responsible for negotiatingresolutions of consumer complaints. This Deputy Attorney General willalso provide consumer education to the public and work with other state andgovernmental agencies to address consumer protection issues.

**This position may be eligible fortelework for up to three day per week**

This is a challenging position that provides anopportunity to investigate and litigate a wide range of matters including manylarge and complex consumer frauds. This Deputy Attorney General should beable to work independently and meet deadlines. Candidates should have arecord of solid academic achievement relevant work experience and goodwriting skills. Familiarity with finance or accounting is helpful butnot a prerequisite. We seek an individual with a strong commitment toworking in the public interest. DelawareBar Admission or a willingness to sit for the next Delaware Bar examrequired.
