Job Summary

The Department of Justice (DOJ) seeks a Deputy Attorney General(DAG) to serve as a civil litigation attorney representing the State and itsemployees in tort primarily automobile accident causes of action. This DAG position is in the Civil Division DefensiveLitigation Unit (DLU) in New Castle Deputy Attorneys General in the Defensive Litigation Unit defend theState its agencies officials and employees in civil litigation in a widevariety of matters. Primarily thisposition works with the State Coverage Office in defending personal injurycauses of action brought against the are handled in both state and federal court. Qualified applicantsmust be able to effectively handle civil litigation develop a good workingrelationship with other Deputy Attorneys General support staff and clientsand must have the ability and determination to learn new areas of the law. Membership in Delaware Bar required.
ThisDAG will have other comparable duties as well as handling additionalassignments as directed by the State Solicitor Deputy State Solicitor UnitHead or Assistant Unit Head.

Membershipin Delaware Bar is required. The mostqualified candidates have some prior generallitigation experience;however such expertise and experiences are not required for selection. The DAGshould be able to work independently meet deadlines and communicate clearlywith client agencies and should have demonstrated legal ability and a thoroughknowledge of relevant laws and court rules. TheDAG must have a willingness to travel within the state when needed to meetdepartmental needs and court schedules.
