Job Description

The Department Program Coordinator provides administrative operational and communications support for the Business Information Technology (BIT) Department. The position serves as a primary point of contact for faculty staff students visitors and university partners and supports a broad range of departmental activities with primary responsibility for coordinating operations associated with the BIT PhD Program.
Responsibilities include supporting graduate recruitment and admissions processes student onboarding program administration communications event coordination travel arrangements purchasing reimbursements website and digital content updates and other departmental initiatives. The Department Program Coordinator collaborates with faculty students college offices and university partners to support the departments teaching research and outreach mission.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience providing administrative program communications customer service or office support in a professional environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies including faculty staff students and external stakeholders.
Experience coordinating meetings events projects records or program operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business applications.
Ability to exercise sound judgment maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education academic administration student services or a related professional environment.
Experience supporting academic or graduate education programs.
Experience managing website content newsletters social media or other digital communications.
Experience coordinating travel purchasing reimbursements or event logistics.
Familiarity with university administrative systems such as Slate Banner HokieMart Emburse Drupal or similar platforms.
Knowledge of Virginia Tech policies procedures and administrative systems.
