POSITION TITLE: DAYCARE PART-TIME ASSISTANT STUDENT TEACHER - Washburn Tech Apprentice

BUILDING LOCATION: Perry Elementary School
PAYMENT RATE: $8.50

WORKING HOURS: Flexible; Part-time
BENEFITS ELIGIBLE: No

FLSA STATUS: Exempt position

EVALUATED BY: Daycare Program Director

PURPOSE:The Daycare Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in childcare in the USD #343 daycare program. The Assistant Teacher will work as directed by the Lead Teacher and/or the Daycare Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age and is at least three years older than the oldest youth in the group.
  • Valid drivers license (prefer Kansas)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for children.
  • Clean the classroom and maintain an acceptable and safe environment. This includes daily custodial duties of the classroom space.
  • Displays good judgment in decision-making situations.
  • Responds positively to constructive suggestions for improvement.
  • Utilizes time constructively and effectively.
  • The ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
  • Adheres to all district health and safety policies including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  • Serves as a role model for children in behavior appearance and grooming
  • Display dependability and punctuality in attendance.
  • The ability to communicate clearly.
  • Must have the skills and abilities to carry out the program of activities.
  • The ability to foster a positive healthy relationship with children or youth.
  • The ability to provide supervision and guidance to a group of children or youth under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
  • Must complete required professional development training as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of classroom student and family information.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with other staff members.
  • Serves as a role model for children in behavior appearance and grooming.
  • Display dependability and punctuality in attendance.
  • Ability to react to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner and handle other duties as assigned by the Daycare Program Director building principal and/or Superintendent of Schools.
