Position Summary:
Responsibilities include: implementing program activities daily lessons and support in the community; monitoring for health and safety; and assisting with personal needs and personal goals.
Day Program Assistants teach the special needs young adults basic life skills such as cooking cleaning grocery shopping and budgeting laundry personal grooming and banking. Vocational skills and job interests are also explored along with conducting community activities such as sports activities visiting museums and the zoo picnics etc.
This position works Monday through Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm. No Evenings No Weekends No Holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
High School Diploma/GED
First aid and CPR certification- Training Provided by Lifesteps within 6 months of hire
Current drivers license with the ability to travel for business utilizing personal vehicle
- Ability to lift push pull or move up to 200 pounds with Assistance
Preferred:
One-year experience working with individuals in the human services field such as Direct Care Direct Support Professional nurses aide C.N.A. personal care assistant etc.
Associates or bachelors degree (Special Education Secondary Education Sociology Counseling Psychology Family Studies etc. are related majors but any major qualifies.)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
