Data Protection Specialist III, Regulation Tech Assurance

We are seeking an experienced self-motivated data governance specialist who will help transform our data protection landscape by maturing our data security classification program. We own the methodology to define and vend security classification across Amazon data setting the foundation for how the data should be protected to meet our security and privacy bar.

We assess risk classify data and systems scale adoption through automation and enable the business to guard the confidentiality and integrity of Amazon and customer data while creating a seamless experience for our stakeholders. Our mission includes instilling awareness to safeguard all customer and employee data applications services and assets. To accomplish this we work with Amazon organizations to build security best practices into enterprise-wide systems.

Amazon Security is looking for a Data Protection Specialist to work across Regulation Tech and Assurance and our broader Security organization to lead the automation and scaling of data security classification providing comprehensive visibility into what data exists and where without manual burden. This role owns the implementation of a formal attribute structure that expands beyond security classification to provide richer context for downstream protection controls and tooling. The role also serves as the subject matter expert for classification guidance supporting customers while driving the automated workflows that reduce manual this Data Protection Specialist role you will work with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical key stakeholders to define and operationalize strategy and interpret communicate and drive full lifecycle security projects.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop and implement scalable solutions leveraging automation and intelligence;
- Maintain and govern the data attribute catalog;
- Own the catalog taxonomy structure and integration strategy;
- Drive automated classification model adoption and validate outputs
- Define and implement data attribute frameworks that expand classification context
- Serve as subject matter expert for security classification supporting customers through consultation
- Work cross-functionally with product and tech partners to evolve the data attribute catalog to improve customer experience and meet desired end outcomes;
- Monitor classification accuracy and catalog quality driving continuous improvement through science model feedback and customer insights;
- Proactively identify and resolve challenges and issues that may impair the teams ability to meet strategic business and technical goals;
- Understand Business Information Security Risk and provide insights for resource prioritization;
- Understand and manage cross-functional requirements to translate them into an optimal solution. Be comfortable with hands-on day-to-day problem solving and implementing quick and effective action plans to meet short- and long-term priorities.

- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Information Security Computer Science Risk Management Engineering Math Statistics or a related discipline or equivalent technology experience
- 6 years of HR privacy legal compliance or risk management experience

- Experience performing and/or participating in technical assessments in direct support of a major compliance effort (e.g. ISO 27001 ISO 22301 ISO 27701 ISO 9001 PCI SOC1/SOC 2 HITRUST)
- Understanding of data flows and system design

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
